Abstract

Defamation through social media has emerged as one of the most serious offenses threatening individuals' privacy and reputation. The unprecedented expansion of digital technologies and the widespread use of social networking platforms have enabled the rapid and extensive dissemination of personal information, thereby exposing individuals to significant reputational harm. Although the Algerian constitutional framework has consistently recognized and protected the right to privacy across successive constitutions, online defamation has become increasingly prevalent in recent years. This paper examines the legal dimensions of defamation committed through social media and evaluates the extent to which the Algerian constituent authority has addressed this phenomenon through constitutional safeguards.
